Depending on your mood at the time, you can enjoy the scent as if you were traveling, and think back to the design of each piece of art, interior decoration, jewelry, or your favorite collection, or enjoy your hobbies.
Find a comfortable space and time where you can feel a subtle sense of exhilaration and be yourself the most. This time, we have collaborated with essayist Asako Ueno, designer Yoko Yamafuji, and lifestyle magazine ku:nel to introduce some recommended items.

YAMMA

Nana Yamazaki, the designer of <Yanma>, started her own clothing line in 2008, with the help of local residents. Using the durable and easy-to-handle Aizu cotton that was originally used for work clothes, she creates clothes that can be worn for everyday wear. In 2022, she will launch a new genderless label, <Yanmaman>, in New York. The simple texture and functionality of Aizu cotton, as well as the highly transparent manufacturing background, have become a hot topic among Westerners, and it is becoming increasingly popular.

<Forest Sea Duke> is a former designer at a stuffed animal manufacturer who has been creating stuffed animals with animal motifs since 2012 using original patterns. Using natural and upcycled materials, they aim to create shapes that are tactile and fit into everyday life. This time, they will also be announcing a special product made with <Dragonfly> fabric.

LeSENT/Luzon

Luzon is a Japanese fragrance/skincare brand founded in 2020 by two Japanese women living in Brooklyn. They use high-quality botanical ingredients and essential oils extracted from wild plants to create products that are gentle on the skin and effective. For hand care, hair care, and body care, they aim to create blends that utilize the characteristics of essential oils in the right place and work according to the purpose of each product.

Dress Herself is a daily wear brand that offers comfortable and high-quality everyday wear using natural materials, mainly silk. As the weather gets chilly and we approach the beginning of spring, we will be focusing on light outerwear and accessories such as capes and stoles that can be worn in the early spring and in the winter. "A little wonder for your daily dinner table"
wa&_ (Wonder) is a brand that offers a modern version of the "Taste of Japan," inspired by cuisines from around the world and arranged with a delicate Japanese flavor.

yahae/Yahae

"Yahae" is a brand born in 2020, named after Yahee, the founder of our original cotton business. Based on the accumulation of past "history," we also value a perspective toward the "future" for sustainable manufacturing. The socks we designed after sharing our ideas ended up being socks that fit the time axis of the "now" and that you will want to wear all the time.

"DIALOGUE is an exhibition that is created by everyone involved: exhibitors, the venue, visitors, organizers, and everyone involved."

Crafts have been passed down through the ages as tools that support people's lives and culture. The skills of craftsmen are not just there to be preserved, but they are constantly collaborating with various cultures and designs from around the world to transcend fields and create art, industry, and lifestyles.

At a time when it has become inevitable for people to learn about the global environment and diversity and take action, DIALOGUE places great importance on conveying the "words" of creators from diverse backgrounds who create products in harmony with the local community and nature.

Crafts and handicrafts have the wisdom to find materials in nature, create tools, and continue to use them for a long time. Today, the definition of crafts has expanded, and we can see manufacturing that incorporates elements of crafts in fields other than crafts, such as food and fashion, in various regions, where projects are creating richer relationships between the natural environment and industry, and in social welfare facilities, where people with various types of disabilities are able to use their diverse abilities to shine in society.

DIALOGUE aims to renew this relationship between society and crafts, turn its attention to craftsmanship that will continue into the next 100 years, and work with creators to create new spaces for interaction born out of dialogue.

I plan to exhibit the materials and tools in an installation format.

What is T.E.I.B.A.N?
This is an exhibition platform that was created as part of the "Nara Brand Development Support Project," a public-private collaboration between Nara Prefecture and businesses within the prefecture.
The purpose of this project is not just product development, but for creators to directly listen to customer feedback, share evaluations and issues, and connect directly with customers.

This time, yahae is taking up the theme of "The Behavior of Socks." We would like to experimentally consider the behavior of socks in relation to human clothing.

・We will not have a wide product lineup like we do at regular exhibitions.
- We welcome a wide range of visitors, from general customers to shop owners.
・Yahae staff member (Yasutaka Nomura) will be staying for two days from Thursday, January 30th to Friday, January 31st. He will be absent for the remaining two days due to an unavoidable commitment. Debut of "yahae sui"

The brand line "yahae sui" will debut from 2024AW.
While maintaining the high quality that only a factory brand can offer, we plan to offer comfortable socks that you will want to wear every day.
We will deliver items that are as vivid and dynamic as the jade color used in the brand logo on the sleeve.

Brand Concept
"Sui" means dynamic and light. The theme of this line is color, and it is both fashionable and functional as underwear. The combination of chemical dyes and natural colors sometimes shows a more colorful look than our paint palette.

yahaeの靴下を取り上げていただいたことはとても嬉しいのですが、それ以上に靴下そのものがあの巻頭の特集の中で大々的に登場したこと、それが個人的に衝撃でした。
靴下って、雑誌に載ってもせいぜいタバコ箱くらいの大きさで、大半のスタイリングでは見えるか見えないか。
小さな文字のクレジットで確認するものだと思っていました。もしかしたら、靴下記事史上最大サイズではないでしょうか?
靴下は伝統的に脇役としてのイメージでありました。
今でこそ靴下を主体としたスタイリングの流行や、2010年代に生まれた多くの専業ブランドの登場により、靴下の地位や存在感は向上していますが、それまでは特段に言及するまでもないただの肌着、あるいは差し色といったものでした。

そんな靴下を、今の靴下(ソックス?)に変えてきたのは、業界関係者や雑誌、多くの靴下ラバー達かと思うのですが、この記事はさらに靴下がワンアップするためのきっかけになるものだと思っています。

最後になりましたが、POPEYEの編集の皆様や担当されたスタイリスト長谷川昭雄さんに心より感謝を申し上げます。

"What is...?" Exhibition What is jazz, socks, and medicinal herbs?

NARA TEIBAN was born from a public-private collaboration project, and thanks to everyone, we are celebrating our 6th anniversary.
It was born out of the activities of small and medium-sized manufacturers, whose focus was on subcontracting and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), to design "standards."
What we have been particular about is the design of the process before the shape is born.
We have developed our sales floor with the theme of "The store should be fun" while repeatedly asking ourselves, "How should our work be useful in the future?"
Going back to the basics of ``What is...?'', we have decided to join forces with the public and private sectors to create a limited-time ``shop'' at Space of Ginza on the 1st floor of Matsuya Ginza. .
We look forward to your visit.
